Top Navigation and Maps Apps on Android in New Zealand: Q1 2025

The first quarter of 2025 saw a variety of performance trends among the top navigation and maps apps on Android in New Zealand. Here’s a closer look at how these apps performed based on data from Sensor Tower.

Google Earth maintained a consistent weekly download rate, fluctuating between 900 and 1,200 downloads. Weekly active users showed variability, starting at 6.7K and peaking at 7.5K before stabilizing around 6.8K by the end of March.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic experienced a gradual increase in downloads, beginning the quarter at approximately 1.3K and ending with around 935 downloads. Its active user base remained strong, ranging from 9K to 11K throughout the quarter.

Offline Maps, GPS, Speedometer saw a decline in weekly downloads initially, dropping to 314 before recovering to 547 by the end of March. Active users followed a similar trend, stabilizing at around 1K.

CamperMate: Au & NZ Road Trip had a relatively stable download rate with a slight dip mid-quarter. Active users ranged from 7K to 9.3K, showing a peak at the beginning of the quarter.

Polarsteps Travel gained momentum in weekly downloads, starting at 264 and ending with 539. Active users increased significantly mid-quarter, peaking at 7.5K before settling around 5.6K.
